AS 5200.458-2008 pdf free.Plumbing And Drainage Products – Universal Plastic-Bodied Transition Couplings.
This Standard sets out requirements for plastic-bodied transition couplings intended to join PE, P13. PEX. PP. PVC, ABS. copper, ductile iron, cast iron, lead, stainless steel and galvanized steel pipes for cold water applications (with a maximum operating pressure of 1250 kPa at 20°C) to each other and to themselves (i.e., PE to copper). for pipe/tube sizes up to 110 mm outside diameter.
4 DEFINITIONS
For the purpose of this Standard, the definitions given in AS/NZS 3500.0 and the one below apply.
4.1 Standard dimension ratio (SDR)
A nominal ratio of the pipe outside diameter to its wall thickness.
5 MATERIALS
5.1 Plastics materials
5. 1 . 1 Plastics material
The long-term behaviour of the material of the fitting body shall be verified by type test on an injection-moulded pipe specimen with an outside diameter of not less than 50 mm. The free length of the specimen between the end connections shall he not less than three times the outside diameter.
When two pipe specimens are tested in accordance with ISO 1167.1, both specimens shall meet the test requirements given in Table I . 1 without leaking or fracturing.
For materials not given in Table 1.1, the test conditions used shall demonstrate compliance with ISO 9080, or shall be equivalent or better, for the evaluation of long-term performance of the material.
5. 1 .2 Plastics body material
Plastics body fittings shall be type tested for resistance to internal pressure in accordance with ISO 1167.1. The Fitting body shall be tested under the conditions specified in Table 1.2.
Special sealing plugs connected to one another by a rod, allowing some longitudinal movement of the ends, may be used or the plug may be held in place by the nut used on a compression fitting assembly.
No leakage or bursting of the Fitting body shall occur within the minimum test period. if leakage occurs at the sealing plugs, the test is not valid and shall be repeated using another test specimen.
For materials that are not listed in Table 1.2, test conditions, shall be established, in accordance with ISO 9080 and, as a minimum, shall be equivalent to the conditions for the materials listed in Table 1 2 for the same evaluation of the long-term performance of the material.
