3.1 GENERAL
Equipment shall be installed in locations that will not prejudice its performance and
reliability.
Access for servicing all equipment shall be provided.
Where special installation arrangements are required. the recommendations in the equipment documentation for that application should be followed. ASE are required to have a minimum rating of 1P30 in accordance with IEC 60529. Equipment within the fire alarm monitoring system shall be compatible in the configuration in which it is installed.
NOTES:
1 Equipment should be appropriate for the environment in which it is installed. Environmental conditions such as high temperature, dampness, dust, corrosion or vibration should be avoided.
2 AS 7240.13 may be used to confirm the compatibility of components.
3.2 ALARM SIGNALLING EQUIPMENT (ASE)
The ASE shall be installed in the format detailed in the conformity documentation, including any limitation of use identified.
ASE shall be installed in a location that meets the following requirements:
(a) An area not used for storage of combustible materials.
(b) An area protected by the FDAS except where it is installed external to the building.
(c) An area that presents a low risk of damage to the equipment and injury to personnel.
(d) Controls and indicators shall be readily accessible and be mounted not less than 500 mm and not more than 2000 mm above the floor level.
(e) Ambient light level in the vicinity of the ASE shall be such that visual indications can be clearly seen, controls easily operated and any instructions or legends can be easily read.
3.3 COVERING DOOR
Unless located within or adjacent to the FDCIE, where the ASE is obscured by a door, that door shall be marked in a contrasting colour to the general colour scheme with the words ‘ASE’ in letters not less than 50 mm high.
