General purpose outlets shall be located at least 1 800 mm from the battery and a minimum of 100 mm
below the lowest point of the highest ventilation opening.
2.3 Battery enclosure requirements
2.3.1 Enclosure construction
Where an enclosure is designed to accommodate a battery charger and other equipment as well as a battery, a separate compartment shall be provided for the battery. The enclosure shall be lockable.
NOTE The ventilation openings for the compartments should be spaced as per the recommendations of AS 2676.2.

(b) have their polarity clearly identified.
2.3.3 Battery compartment circuits
Only circuits associated with a battery shall be installed within a battery compartment of an enclosure.
3 Installation
3.1 General
The prospective short-circuit current of the battery, in accordance with the battery manufacturer’s specifications, shall be determined when designing the battery installation. In particular, this applies to the connection from the battery to the main d.c. switchboard or associated equipment. The installation shall conform to AS/NZS 3000.
3.2 Connections
A battery and any busbar system shall be connected by an insulated flexible connection rated to carry the maximum prospective short circuit current and the maximum load current in installations where vibration levels exceed manufacturer’s specified limits. In other installations, batteries and busbar systems may be connected by solid links or flexible cables, rated as above, and connected directly to the battery terminals.AS 3011.2 pdf download.
