AS 3648-1993 pdf free.Specification and methods of test for packaged concrete mixes.
AS 3648 specifies minimum requirements for the solid ingredients of dense weight concrete and for packaging appropriate proportions of these which, when mixed with water, will produce a volume of plastic concrete not exceeding 20 L (0.020 m3) from each pack. Relevant methods of test are given in the Appendices.
This Standard does not apply to packaged mixtures of sand and cement intended for use as mortar or plaster. or to mixtures of ingredients for concrete required to comply with AS 3600.
NOTE: Methods tbr demonstrating compliance with this Standard are given in Appendix A.
3 DEFINITIONS For the purpose of this Standard, the definitions below apply.
3.1 Batching—the process of combining the concrete ingredients in fixed proportions by weight or by volume.
3.2 Blended packaged concrete mix—a packaged concrete mix in which cement is substantially blended with the other contents of the pack.
3.3 Cement—Portland or blended cement complying with AS 3972 or a mixture of either or both of these with fly-ash complying with AS 3582.1, or with ground slag complying with AS 3582.2, in which the proportion of portland cement in the combined material is not less than 40% by mass.
3.4 Concrete —a thoroughly mixed combination of cement, aggregates and water, with or without the addition of chemical admixtures or other materials.
3.5 Dense-weight concrete—hardened concrete with a saturated, surface-dry density greater than 2100 kg/m3.
3.6 Hardened concrete—concrete after initial set, as represented by test specimens which have been subjected to a specified process and duration of curing.
3.7 Packaged concrete mix-—a closed pack containing coarse and fine aggregates and cement, with or without the inclusion of additives or chemical admixtures, which yields plastic concrete when the contents are thoroughly mixed with water.
