1.4.2 AgVet Code
The Code set out in the schedule to the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Act 1994 (Commonwealth).
1.4.3 Best before date
The last date on which a food can be expected to retain all of its quality attributes, provided that it has been stored in accordance with any stated storage conditions.
1.4.4 Commercial sterility
The absence of microorganisms capable of growing in the food at normal non-refrigerated conditions at which the food is likely to be held during manufacture, distribution and storage.
1.4.5 Complete pet food
A food that is nutritionally complete and meets the minimum recommended nutritive requirements for cats or dogs as defined by the international nutritional publication (INP).
NOTE: Such a food may also commonly be described as ‘complete and balanced’.
1.4.6 Family of products
A group of products that may reasonably be expected to possess a similar nutritional profile
by virtue of having a shared recipe base, product form and processing technology.
1.4.7 International nutritional publication (INP)
Either the AAFCO Official Publication or FEDIAF Nutritional Guidelines, each used in its entirety.

I .4. Metabolizable energy (NI E)
The energy that is available to dogs and cats from foods.
1.4.9 Pet
A domesticated dog or cat.
1.4.10 Pet food
Food for dogs or cats including all types of dry, semi-moist, retorted, pasteurized, chilled, frozen and other food manufactured for consumption by domesticated dogs or cats including pet meat.

1.4.11 Pet food additive
Any intentionally added component of pet food not normally consumed as a pet food ingredient, which affects the characteristics of pet food or pets fed with it.
NOTE: It includes a pre-mix which consists only of pet food additive components and microorganisms. enzymes, acidity regulators. trace elements, vitamins, preservatives, colouring agents. binders, dust suppressants, carriers, flavours and other products fall within the scope of this definition depending on the purpose of use and method of administration.AS 5812 pdf download.
