AS/NZS 4286 specifies constructional and performance requirements for three grades of single-service cloth towels. This Standard also covers the information required to be supplied with towels and their processing. care, transportation, and dispensing.
2 OBJECTIVE The objective of this Standard is to facilitate the provision of reusable, single-use towels for hand drying which meet at least a minimum level of performance in aspects that are ciltical to hygiene.
4 DEFINITIONS For the purpose of this Standard, the definitions given in AS 2450 and those below apply.
4.1 Dispenser—a machine designed to dispense. as required. a measured portion of clean fabric from a roll, and to ensure the separation of clean and soiled portions of fabric.
4.2 Single-service cloth towel—a cloth towel provided in a roll form, designed to be used in a dispenser, so that a clean portion of the towel is utilized with each activation of the dispenser.
5 FABRICS
5.1 General Fabrics shall comply with Table I.
NOTE: The wettability requirement is intended to serve as a check on the presence of excessive filling material.
5.2 flyed fabrics Dyed fabrics shall also comply with Table 2.
NOTE: The colourfastness to washing test and the requirement level are based on the assumption that chlorine bleaching treatments will not be used in laundering.
5.3 Selvedges Selvedges shall either be woven or tucked in.
NOTE: Because of the importance of their construction to the wear of the towel, selvedges should be properly constructed. Some towels may include polyester yarns in the selvedge to provide extra strength. There is at present no agreed meaningful test for selvedge performance.
5.4 Dimensions Unless otherwise specified. towel roll length and towel width shall be in accordance with Table 3.AS/NZS 4286 pdf download.
