BS EN 12472:2020 pdf free.Method for the simulation of accelerated wear and corrosion for the detection of nickel release from coated items.
BS EN 12472 This document specifies a method for the simulation of accelerated wear and corrosion, to be used prior to the detection of nickel release from coated articles that come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin. According to the Commission Regulation (EC] No 1907/2006 (REACH]), articles with an outer coating containing nickel and those which are inserted into pierced ears and other parts of the human body are excluded from the scope of this document. The following documents are referred to in the text in such a way that some or all of their content constitutes requirements of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
EN 1811, Reference test method for release of nickel from all post assemblies which are inserted into pierced parts of the human body and articles intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin EN 16128, Ophthalmic optics一Reference method for the testing of spectacle frames and sunglasses for
nickel release. Before being subjected to the corrosion [6.2) and wear ([6.3) procedures, different parts of some articles may need to be separated from each other to become test parts.Parts of articles which are not intended to come into prolonged contact with the skin may be removed before being subjected to corrosion and/or wear.Gently swirl the test part(s) for 2 min in a degreasing solution (5.2.3) at room temperature. Rinse thoroughly with deionized water (5.2.4) and gently dry with absorbent paper. After degreasing, test parts should be handled with plastic forceps or clean, powder-free protective gloves. This cleaning stage is intended to remove extraneous grease and skin secretions due to handling, but not any protective coatings. If applicable, the test parts to be tested shall first be opened to expose critical surfaces. The test parts are suspended a few centimetres above the corrosive medium (5.2.2] in a closed container (5.2.1) and placed in the laboratory oven (5.2.5) for 2 h士5 min at (50土2) °C. The test parts should not touch each other during the corrosion procedure.
